I Just Won Round 25 of the Photography Scavenger Hunt

For those frequent readers of my blog (heya!) you know that I have been a long time member of an incredible group of photographers known as the Scavengers.  You are also likely aware that participating in the Hunt has been one of the major drivers of my journey as an artistic type.

So you could imagine my reaction when I woke up this morning, looked at my cell phone, and saw this notification:

---
"I'm excited to announce the winner of the Epic Round 25 Photography Scavenger Hunt is... Dave DeBaeremaeker"
---

Thrilled is definitely a word that would describe it.  Coming on the heels of my Guru Award win, I really don't know how to process it.

I never thought I'd be worthy of such an honor.  It was only a handful of years ago that I even started considering photography as a thing I could do as a creative process.  I was blown away with the talent displayed by the Scavengers, and remain in awe to this day.  A couple of these folks have even ended up being mentors.  So to be named as a winner among this talented community is huge.

One thing it does do is help validate that my subject of choice, LEGO and action figures, can be seen as a proper art form.  I have always had this niggling thought in the back of my head that my use of toys brought with it the stigma of being childish, and therefore not taken that seriously.  I really can't say that anymore.

So normally with these posts I post all of my images, one for each word in the hunt.  However normally hunt rounds have 7 to 10 words.  This round had 26 words - one for each letter of the alphabet.  So there are simply too many for a single post.   I have also gotten a lot of requests for BTS for my images.  So I'll just post my favourite images from the hunt, and release the rest in follow up posts.

If you can't wait and want to see all my images for this round, you can click see them here: Round 25 Overall Winner

However, these are some of my favorites from this hunt:

Jellybean:

Fire:

Leaf:

Tire:

Underwear:
Stay tuned for more details behind all of my images for this hunt.

And for those that believed in me, and have supported my work - thank you!  I wouldn't be where I am without you all.
